Escape to Tamborine Mountain and join us for a day or two to enjoy open skies, beautiful rainforests, and crisp, clean air. When you’re ready to replace screen time with green time, only one place comes to mind: your hinterland. Escape back to nature and enjoy your backyard, just an hour from Brisbane’s city centre and forty minutes from the Gold Coast.
This trail guides you through the hinterland, across a picturesque plateau, down to the quaint village of Canungra, and back around to Tamborine.
If you’re heading in from the Gold Coast, stop by the family-owned Mount Nathan Winery, founded in 2002. Continue to Canungra and visit O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard for artisan wine, picnic baskets, pizzas, and even a chance to pat an alpaca! On your way back, you’ll pass the Canungra Hotel. Head up the ‘Goat Track’ to the mountain plateau, and down Wilson Road to St Bernards Hotel, known for its spectacular views with lazy St Bernards photo bombing your selfies! .
Drive towards Main Western Road and you’ll pass Hampton Lane Wines, Stop at the Hang-Gliders Lookout to take in the western views. Next, visit Cauldron Estate and Distillery for a local gin tasting. Across the road, you can explore the Glowworm Caves and the Queensland Wine Centre.
If you’re in the mood for a local beer, BXR Boxer Brewing Co. are dedicated to the art of crafting the best-tasting, most drinkable beer. You will find them on Main Western Road, on the same site as Witches Falls Wines – a perfect location to taste and enjoy!
Heading towards Gallery Walk, Fortitude Brewing should be next on your list, where you can enjoy a sample tray of their crafted beers. Take a stroll down Gallery Walk and visit Tamborine Mountain Distillery, Australia’s most awarded distillery, known for its exceptional range of liqueurs & spirits.
Castle Glen, also on Gallery Walk, is a must-see with its distinctive castle architecture. After indulging in some treats and shopping, head to Witches Falls Winery, producing wines of exceptional quality in a beautiful setting.
As you wind down the mountain through picturesque rainforest canopies, you’ll pass the iconic Bearded Dragon Hotel set on 100 acres. Don’t miss Albert River Wines with its stunning mid-1800s building, Jacaranda-lined driveway, and exclusive wines.
If you are planning to indulge a little, maybe a tour is for you. Tours can be picked up in Brisbane, on the Gold Coast or at your accommodation on the Mountain and surrounding areas.
